FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT

Good movement is the foundation for athletic performance and fitness training success. At Goodridge Strength and Conditioning, we assess, screen, and train the seven functional movements; push, pull, squat, lunge, hinge, twist, and walk. We reprogram the body to function better. We use postural restoration to reposition the body into proper alignment and retrain the neuro-muscular system. We create more explosive and robust athletes as well as more efficiency throughout your daily routine. Our bodies are great at compensating and they will adapt to any stress that is applied to it. This leads to lacks of mobility in areas that should be mobile and excess mobility in areas that should be stable. Each joint needs mobility, strength, and stability, and we develop custom range of motion and activation exercises to promote proper postural alignment and functional athletic movement.

We train movements because everything is connected. Think of the way that movement evolves in infants. They move on their backs until one day this action allows them to roll over, initializing the hip crossover movement. Soon they progress to crawling, standing, and finally walking. With each step, they realize how to stabilize their bodies. We essentially do the same system. Many lose these abilities which is why we focus on movement. Learning how to move better will increase your performance and productivity on and off the field. With a strong base you can transfer energy through-out your body more efficiently, producing more power with less fatigue. Without foundational core strength you will significantly increase potential risk of injury and exponentially decrease performance.
