GRATITUDE & EMPATHY

At Goodridge Strength and Conditioning we know that the first step to being great is being grateful! Living with gratitude has the power to completely transform your life! Gratitude is about focusing on what's good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have. Consciously appreciating the things, experiences, and people around you will help you live a happier and healthier life. Gratitude is often defined as a key or basic human virtue that one needs to live a ‘good life’. Studied extensively in the past two decades, gratitude has been shown to be a ‘gateway’ to other positive emotions including joy, pride, motivation and wonder. Research has shown that empathy makes people better managers and workers, and better family members and friends. We are all in this together. Talk to people, ask them how they are doing, put yourself in their shoes, and join together for a shared cause. Always believe something wonderful is about to happen with constant positive thinking and perspective.

Research suggests that a grateful disposition is rooted in the basic traits of empathy and resilience. A 2020 study in the Current Psychology Journal examined the relationship between empathy, resilience, and gratitude showing significant positive correlations between the three. Gratitude, empathy, and resilience is described to promote life satisfaction, well-being, positive beliefs, creativity, as well as minimize the risk of depression and anxiety. People with high levels of gratitude, empathy, and resilience have been found to be optimistic and possess an energetic, curious, and open approach to new life experiences. Gratitude, empathy, and resilience is associated with lower risk of stress and significant benefits to a person’s overall physical, mental, and spiritual health.

"Malcolm is one of the most dedicated people I've met and when it comes to helping other people he cares about helping them achieve their goals as much, if not more, than his own. I've spent hours on hours with Malcolm in the gym and he is a great motivator. At times when we would work on something I was not great at he never gave up and pushed me to become a better athlete. Malcolm is also a great teacher. He is one of the main reasons I fell in love with the weight room and he made me realized its importance when it comes to sports. Malcolm is just an all around great guy to be around who is very easy to communicate with and he has a great sense of humor."
